The Floor is Lava

The Floor is Lava
This is a new illustration for a game concept I did my Junior year of college, "The Floor is Lava" which was a group project for "Game Asset" for Nick Jainchigg, with Hannah Lawler, Qiongni, and Orissa Jenkins. I was on character development and had a lot of fun creating designs that fit my team's model; for instance the lava monster began as a horrific beast with a skull for a face without eye sockets, massive horns, and was wrapped in chains while on fire.

Process

You never know what you'll end up with when you work with others =)
Special thanks to ~KaiCarpenter for doing a one on one with me, and to Francis Boncales and Jennifer Hou for critiques.

Home documenting verses a professional

The Portrait "Three Siblings" was photographed by a professional, and the differences between home documenting verses a professional is astonishing!

Skeleton Studies

Skeleton studies from Artistic Anatomy this semester. The top two were done from life using my Bamboo tablet, and the bottom piece was done on my Intuos from a photograph that I took in the RISD nature lab (no tracing).

Creature Lab continued Part 2

Designed for my Exploring Scifi class with Sophia Brueckner:

Red Back Sloth, is a slow moving predator that spends its life in the canopy above, it creates snare traps from its abdomen similar to the "Red Back Spider". It's prey consists of larger meals like tigers or bears, but will general eat whatever gets caught. It is not a strong predator, so it will wait out its meal's strength using its extraordinary slow metabolism.

Gulper Bat, it's echolocation is used for both sight and as a weapon, paralyzing its prey with ultrasonic sound waves. Using its tail to scoop up prey, it never lands on the ground.
